AC Retrofit Question

Can an AC system from a '88 be retrofitted to a '72? If so, are any modifications required? Any help appreciated.

With enough money, work and fabrication, anything can be retrofitted to anything. You have ask yourself this question, though: How much time, effort, money and hassle do I want to invest? For example...

1. Do you have barrier hoses?
2 Will the stock Nipponenso compressor fit in the 72's engine compartment?
3. Do you have a condenser up front? If not, do you want to hack up the sheet metal and put one it?
4. Do you have a condenser in the back? Will one even fit on the 72's deck lid?
5. Do you want to cut a hole in the floorboard for return air?
6. Do you have space to put the fan and temperature controls?
7. Is the 72's dash set up with vents? If not, can you retrofit a later dash, or come up with an under-dash configuration?
8. Will the compressor suck too much horsepower out of the 72's smaller engine?

Those are just a few of the questions that come to mind. I'm sure others will chime in....
