Steep driveway vs. early 911

Anyone here with a steep driveway. I am wanting to make a move on a foreclosed on home my bank has for sale and I need to do so quickly. One of the deal breakers would be if a 71 911T was not able to handle the steep driveway. I wish I had more info like the grade etc... but there just isn't any way I can get that info quick enough. When I looked at the house I backed a stock 2003 Jetta with stock 17' wheels and tires up the drive and on the way out is just baaaaarely scrapped on the plastic lip below the front valence. Anyone had any run-ins with steep driveways? The car seems to me to have pretty good ground clearence but then again when it comes to a steep drive ground clearence isnt the only issue to consider.

the entrance to my driveway is a bit steep. My wife's Integra will scrape the front lip. I can get in and out slowly if I do so at an angle. This is in both cars that are at track height.

you can always spend a little money of a few bags of QuickCrete and smooth out the transition. Only takes a few hours to set up.

I have a steep driveway...somewhat a pain the a$$. Check out this link and maybe you can get an idea of how steep:

Wayne's driveway

I must enter and exit the driveway at an angle...if not I will scrap the front and rear. I'd like to lower the car a bit but do not think I could lower it as much as I would like. All in all, not a deal breaker for me (yet). My other vehices (BMW 325 and Chevy Suburban) do not have any problems.

Good luck!

jpnovak I wondered that myself about the transition but since the street leading to the house if also on a very steep slope (it is at a lake) if I did that I may end up being the guy blocking up the water flow down the gutters.

Where are you in Charlotte? I am in Davidson and have a drive that appears to be steeper than Wayne's. I have no problems. PM me and I'll give you my phone number.

I just havent noticed that much difference between the wife's Jetta. We had a kind of steep drive at a rental in Pineville but this drive is so steep it is almost scary.

My driveway is steep! (Not a great pic) But the 72 has no problem if I approach and descend the gutter at a serious angle. After a few times it becomes second nature. You can't tell from the pic, but I have a two out sport muffler that extends.

I've got a real steep driveway, and have no trouble at all. I'll dig up a pic from home tonight for you.

It isn't the slope as much as it is the transition from the road to the driveway. If you backed straight up it in the Jetta then I bet the 911 will make it if you go at an angle. If it doesn't work the situation can be fixed. Simply put down a length of corrugated steel pipe and pour cement over it. This way you reduce the transition angle and you don't block the gutter.
