WOOHOO It's alive!!
After what should've been a routine fuel pump change that ballooned into what I thought might have been a major gas leak, possible carb problem, etc etc (all due to my own inexperience and lack of knowledge), my car is finally running properly! All it needed was proper fuel psi. I ended up going with a Carter fuel pump, already rated at 4.5 psi.
Thanks to everyone who helped me through my first issue, especially Grady. Grady, please don't think I disregarded your advice by going with the Carter - I simply couldn't find a regulator to go with the MFI pump at any of the part stores around here. Apparently they're racing items, and are only carried by specialty stores. The (local) place that sold me the MFI pump exchanged it for the Carter, and that seemed to be the best and fastest solution. Of course, on my way out of the Porsche parts place with the Carter in hand, he casually mentioned a place in Toronto that sells them. doh... Anybody know, does the Carter say "this side up" because of cooling issues? How vertical does it need to be for proper operation? Anyway, needless to say there was a big smile on my face when I heard the engine come to life. It didn't even dampen my spirits (too much) when we got a surprise half foot of snow yesterday. Chris
