Rough Value for a 73 911 T w/ Rebuilt Engine but Rusty
Car looks good at a distance but has fair amounts of rust on left side under vehicle. Engine has been rebuilt less than 10K miles ago with receipts. Rust is evident around the rear window. Interior is good. What is this car worth? I am going to drive it tomorrow or the next day. Silver with black interior. I might just buy it and sell it or part it out. Any interest?

Hard to say without pictures... I paid $11,500 for mine with S options and some rear window rust on one side, and a perfect engine (just crappy injections). "fair amounts of rust" indicate to me the body is worthless (cost of repairt=value of body at best), but the engine + tranny is worth some money... I'd say $5000 to $8000 for the car ?

CIS or MFI? Any upgrades to engine during rebuild? Multiply visible rust by a factor of 10 to gage the full extent of damage. Jim

Underbody rust is never good and always expensive to replace. It will require extensive welding and then a good paint job.
rust under the rear window means the rear deck is probably gone along with the seat pans. Rocker rust (or jack points) can easily migrate to the torsion bar. The vertical fender supports and front pan are usually long gone by this point. Sounds like a donor to me. rust scares me but I have a plasma cutter and welder to show it who's boss... :D Pictures would show the damage better. I would probably only say about $2-3k. |
Jamie, I'm thinkin I may have to learn how to do some welding!!
