Not much to look at.. but I like it!
 

Here is my new mirrors. I only have one on as that's all I want to use.. but man they look SO much better than the flags and weigh SO much less.. I had No mirrors for about 1 month and am glad to have one back on as I am heading to Mid Ohio and it's gonna be nice to have one when the 700HP 930's blow by me on the back straight! ahaha!

THose are the mirrors I got on my ride which are actually from the racing 934 or the Ruf CTR1-yellowbird.

Eric, what is happening at Mid Ohio this weekend?

I got them used from a fellow P-car driver...not sire of the maker....
but the fit is PERFECT.
I couldn't justify paying new prices as I only needed one for the drivers side.. It is JUST what I needed.

They had two bolt on the bottom side I drilled two holes in the door and mounted them up.. very easy.. and I am amazed at the fit.. I didn't think they sit so close to the door and window.... but it's good...

How's the field of vision--I've read they are almost useless--I hope this isnt the case!

They are OK.. IMHO.. NO they are not like the old flagstyle good.. but they are not as tanky either.. so it's a give and take.. I will however be attaching one of the smaller convex mirrors on it as well to aid inthe field of vision..
that should have it good to go ..

I do not know if I will end up doing the track thing eventually or not. I have a bunch of hobbies and in spring/summer I get swamped with my side business working on airplanes.

I used to autocross a 240z and a Rabbit. I have a 16 yr old daughter now in my 924 and she wants to try autocross, so maybe this summer time permitting, we will try it out.

Autocross over the edge= cone/paint scuff.... Race track over the edge = smashed up car. Unfortunately I am a "push it to the edge" kind of guy so maybe I should avoid the track ha ha. (In my motocross days we used to live by the creed "if you are not crashing you are not winning")

Oh man Tim, The track is the BEST and the only place to REALLY see what the 911 can do..

Eric, don't you worry about rolling it up in ball? I guess that is what guys have track cars for, but man I would be suicidal if I balled mine up after all the work I put into it! It always seemed like autocross allowed one to go all out, but on a race track, it seems like you would need to drive with a large amount of restraint to ensure that the car stays in one piece.

What is Mid Ohio like in a 911 such as yours? Is the only real scary part (as far as off track get offs) at the end of the long straight after the keyhole? Or are there multiple car eater sections (still talking 911 SC ish speeds)?

I have a pair of these guys on my 86 that I can't stand. The field of vision is lousy for daily driving. For the track I think they would be perfect. They're really only good for just a quick glance.

One of these days I'm going to yank them and replace them with flags. One of these days....

oh man it's perfect.. I worry more about getting nailed at a cross road or by a mobile phone using driver in a SUV more than i do ballin the SC up on the track.. It's really not that bad.. and no, the right hander at the end of the back dtraight isn't the hardpart "Madness " is the hard part if there is one at Mid O.. the right hander has a nice little hill/crest sort of as you are still making the turn and it will uneight the car a bit and at that time all you do is make sure you kind straighten the wheel just enough so that when the car weights up the front end it doesn't shoot you to the inside wall ahaha I have seen it happen but it's not that bad really.. you need to go to the rack it's FUN!

I can do better than that. The lenses on mine are kinda banged up, so I'm sure they'll need replacing (if that's even possible).

Given that, when the time comes, you can just HAVE them. :)

Nice mirror. Amusingly I have the same (in orange mind you), and even though I bought the right one too I did not bother putting it on.
A tip: go t a car/truck shop and buy a larger convex glass. Then ask your local window fitter to cut the mirror to the correct shape. Gives a field as large as the original flag mirrors.
