Question Engine/year question

Hi all! . Future 911 owner wannabe here. Got a question about engine size for ya.

I was browsing through some car ads and noticed an 83 SC ROW. The ad said the car has a 3.2 ltr engine. I thought the 83 model had the 3.0 ltr in it. Is the ROW car different or is the ad wrong or maybe the engine upgraded. It did not say the engine was replaced so I wondered if the ROW car was different.

Guess I could just call them and ask if the motor has been replaced but I thought I'd introduce myself and pose the question.

Thanks

Hi Eric. From the factory the 83 should have the 3.0. 1984 was when the 3.2 started.

IIRC, ROW simply means Rest Of World and has more to do with smog / HP than displacement. 83 should be 3.0 as far as I know

Search here for ROW to find more info

There was (is?) also an "up-grade" to 3.2 L using larger P&C (by Mahle, maybe?), especially if the top end needed repair due to some other issue.

The moteur could also be a swap from a 3.0L to a 3.2L if it is not an upgrade on re-build.

Eric,

The '83SC is a good car but be sure to get a PPI and have the head studs checked, leakdown, etc. Best of luck and have fun!!!
