I have a bursch 911 tuned exhaust on my 79 SC. I dont know if it would fit SSIs. but it sounds like music when you let it go.

Did you notice a sizeable noise difference over stock?

You BET! It is considerably louder than stock. But it is very tame cruising and there is no resonances anywhere in the rpm band. Well, maybe above 5000 rpm. :D

Seth, if you are in the Bay Area, you are welcome to come by and check out and listen to my setup. PM if interested.

The muffler inserts are weld ins so I am offering the free update to all that had the earlier mufflers. just send it back and I will do the work

I have the complete GHL headers / 2 in 2 out setup on my 88 Carrera. It has the heat exchangers. Awesome deep throaty sound, fantastic noises on the track, but a bit too loud for daily street use (sets off car alarms in the parking garage).

Also, the GHL dual-in muffler will not work with the SSI's- it is eccentric to the centerline of the engine, making it a proprietary setup.

Also, you will have to buy a new oil line and cut the valence panel on the right side.

Dansk dual out - big tips - dansk premuffler

I didn't want anything too loud - with having a cabriolet... The Dansk combo just makes it deeper, more throaty... Deep Throat - yeah, that's it!

It sounds like (yeah, pun intended) Ben's final exhaust system is good. I'm a personal friend of Dave, who makes the Triad system so popular here in the PNW. The Triad also has that F1 sound on the pipe, and a very throaty idle and off-idle sound. Dyno tests indicate it's a restriction-free design. I love mine. Just in case you don't know, MFI cars are special and they work best only with the factory hotdog units and Dansk. The rest of our cars simply need tuned primary exhaust (like SSI or headers), and free-flowing final. Check it out:

seth still interested??

We have used the Dansk 2 in 2out muff.er with SSi's, this works well and sounds good, just a good volume level not too loud!

Somebody nees to organize a sound comparison and recording session at some big meet where there are lots of cars - Hershey?

You could have a group of people judge (describe) the sounds and do some standardized recordings of differnt mufflers on the same engine; then do the same for other engine configs. Then post the info here.

Hmm I heard some sound clips, seemed pretty loud, I think I'll hold off for a bit mb911. Anyone got any info on where I can find info or buy a monty muffler? I cant find a single thing about them.

I have an 80 SC with SSI's and a dual outlet Monty. It drones at low RPM's but I love the sounds it makes. I pulled into the XXX gathering
last Saturday and a group of guys came up to ask if I had a 3.6 of some
kind. They were shocked that it was a 3.0. I love the sound but its not
for everyone.

Dansk.

I've run dual out Dansk with my SSI's for about 2 years now. I love the sound. Very deep at idle and racecar like at full throttle. I have a sound file but it was done in my garage. I'll try to record mine at full throttle in a few weeks; a DE is coming up.

No question, Ben's muffler is the essense of what a 911 should sound like. It gives that early MFI 911 sound, pure 911.
I can't wait to drive my car, just to hear that sound again. The best part is the start up; it just gives you goose bumps.

Lucky you, they're on sale! Still about double the cost of Dansk or MB911. Those Aussies are sure proud of their mufflers.
