Quick Q: Adjustable Spring Plates + Steel Banana Arms..fit?
Will they bolt up? Or will the adjustable springplates only work with the aluminum banana arms?
Never had to deal with that situ. |

They will fit fine. I had steel banana arms with adjustable spring plates, then upgraded to aluminum banana arms. I just needed to get some longer bolts because the aluminum arms were bulker in some areas.

Souk can you do me a favour? I need a measurement from the center of the torsion bar hoe to the center of the camber eccentric hole on a factory spring plate. Center to center. Long story, but it involves some personal stupidity!!
Thanks, Jeff

Sure Jeff. I'll do it tomorrow if that's alright...I've got non-adjustable plates I can meaure. I'd do it tonight, but the racket I'd make digging up the parts would wake the family

Chad, what exactly are you getting with the alloy arms? I'll be doing a suspension overhaul on my 69E in a few weeks and the rear is getting 27 bars, Bilstein HD's, adjustable spring plates, and deep 6s widened to 7Rs with 225s.
Car will be used for sporting street and some DE. Is there any real benefit to the alloy arms for this use? unnecessary overkill? Also, any opinions on this contraption:

I have seen that in the repair manuals. All it does is load the suspension to check ride height??? I think? Chains, who the heck uses chains?? Put a floor jack under the trailing arm and adjust the ride height eccentric and you are set! The 124 would be better spent on beer! Looks like a great way to lighten your wallet for no purpose!! Just my opinion though!!

That's what I thought Jeff, thanks. There is someone with a ton of RSR stuff on eBay who has some kind of factory level-protractor tool for setting height. It actually looked the part.

Shaun,
Your probably OK using the steel arms. I used the steel arms for 2 race seasons. I was concerned about weight and wanted the additional weight savings from the rear of the car. I also wanted less unsprung weight (see link below on weights) The aluminum arms are much better in this regard. The aluminum arms are also stronger and beefer. The steel arms would bend/deflect under hard cornering with race tires (You can see the deflection while racing behind another car with steel arms). This deflection is not good for anyone racing and wanting the alignment specs going way out of whack. I found my arms off this fine board. I just posted a "wanted ad" and luckily picked them up the next day. If you have the trailing arms off you might as well get the monoballs from elephant racing. Those are great and the alignment shop will love you for it. Anyway, read the below link for more info. If you have any other questions PM me. see this thread P.S. you do not need that tool. we have never used one or needed one. save your cash for monoballs ![]()

Thanks very much Chad, what a beautiful arm you have there!
now here's my real quandary. The E has taken priority over the track car project for many reasons. Do I rob Peter to pay Paul? Should I pull these out of the track car (swap in 27s for the 29s)? Project 73 911 R/RS -- Week 6
