				 | 87 targa interior light loose?
Anyone know what the best way is to repair a worn out interior light fixture? I was replacing a broken one and noticed that it looks like the PO used some pretty gross glue to get it stuck up there before. It looks like the small pointed cones rubbed a groove in the left side of the fixture, so that it doesn't have anything to stick up against anymore. I'd rather not glue the thing in there if I can avoid it. Is there any sort of putty or stiff fabric shim i can stick up there? Thanks in advance for your recommendations! -Gordon

Are you talking about the one in between the sun visors?

Can you take the trim piece off and reinforce it. I just looked at my targa and it appears that the trip piece provides the resistance for securing the light. I wish I could be more help. Any one else have a better idea??

Yeah, that sounds like the right thing to do - I just don't know how to reinforce it. Got any suggestions for methods or supplies?

Never had a problem with my Targa bar light, but my cab's light between the sun visors was loose when I bought it. I shimmed the opening with a cut up beer can (inside the upholstery). Used a scissors to cut the aluminum and experimented with different layers/thicknesses. Now fits nice and snug.

Dumb question... (Of course, junior member always ask dumb questions. That's our job.) Does anyone have a picture of the light switch with wires plugged into the switch housing? When I bought the car, I've noticed the switch was unplugged. I tried to hookup wires and it's keep poping the fuses. I suspect, I wired it wrong.

I ended up using small slivers of aluminum cut up from a can to shim inside the groove of interior fabric that had worn away. I did it with just one small slice, but had to experiment with length and where to stick it in. It hasn't fallen out since! As far as the wiring goes, I shorted the fuse on several occasions when pushing in or removing the light from the fixture, so there may not only be a wiring problem, but there also may be a possibility of a short when the light is not entirely seated.
