Progress pics of "work"
I dropped my motor a couple of weeks ago for a clutch and misc work. I'm finally getting time to get some of it done, and here are some pics. So far: valve adjust, new plugs, some new senders/seals, engine mount cooler-new seals, some cleaning, painted fan and shroud. This weekend, I hope to paint the sheetmetal, install the new clutch/flywheel and the new Clewett plug wires (I hope they go in ok!)
As she sits now New heater backdate duct from Widebody (Thom), the A/C is coming off, why not the heater fan also? Since the engine bay is going to lose so much stuff, I bought a new intake setup from Evo, so the stock airbox is going too... Well, I think it looks better in the pics than in person. 1/2 my time has been spent cleaning.

That looks awesome. Too bad it has to go back in the car. Maybe a clear fiberglass decklid for some occasions would be in order...

Where'd you get the intake, Ed?

I like that you painted the fan to match the car. Makes more sense to me than the generic red powdercoat that the PO of my car did.
I did join the Ducktail club this week. Ruby was the straw that broke the camel's back in the inspiration department.

Jeremy: I got it at Evolution Motorsports: http://www.evoms.com/
They've got two versions, one goes straight out from the airbox, the other makes a right turn toward the rear of the car. That's the one I got. I'm not looking for any HP gains, just on a mission to clean up the engine bay. Brother: The new tail looks great!

Where Charles Freeman left off with the 911 restoration series, Ed Hughes can take over with the engine drop and upgrade series....(your semi-famous!).

I bet painting Thom's backdate parts and the fan housing strap the same color as the fan contrasted against the black fan housing would be nice. You'll have to do a very good paint job on it thou or it'll look lousy.

Could agree more. The footwell blowers are the cure. You can now have a warm cockpit while the engine is idling or the car is warming up in your drive. The are a bit of a pain to install. I went the extra yard and made custom harnesses and plumbed the ducts with the factory wye connectors so that heat in addition to the A/C would come out of the side vents. Mount a blower speed control under my voltage meter in the console. I bought some high wattage resistors to make a speed control network and I would advise that the motors always come on (slow) when the heater levers are lifted and not have an independant off on the speed switch. I think the rotating motor helps save the bearings from early death. Do a search on footwell blowers I think posted the info.
