What struts have i got
I know it's been asked before, but i'm confused i think a might have the self leveling stuts. But then i don't have the rubber dust cover that i can see in the parts dig.
So maybe they have been changed? no tie rods but, which with what i've read is the main indicator of self leveling struts. And just to confuse the matter there painted green..... when i removed the over spray? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1112921974.jpg |
Looks like Boge. There should be BOGE stamped on the strut.

Thanks i'll have a look for a stamp

Either Boge or Bilstien. Look for a roll pin at the bottom of the assembly above where the ball joint bolts in. If there is one, its a Bilstien. If not, Boge.

My guess would be Boge struts with Bilstein HD inserts. The bottom is black which is usually Boge, and when you buy Bilstein inserts they come with new dust covers in Bilstein colors.

black = boge
green = bilstein red = koni yellow = koni or bilstein Those are alloy S calipers, right? S brake calipers means you have 3.5" ears on the struts. If those are Boges, they would be from a later car like an SC. The Boges that were use on the earlier cars had the 3" ears, brakes were steel M calipers. 3.5" earred struts on a '69S or an S optioned T should be Koni Reds :confused: Saying all that to say that I bet they are Boges from a later car :) |
When looking for the stamped writing, you will usually find it on the inboard side down low just above the spindle collar. It's very faint. Scrub the strut tube with a ScotchBrite pad or some steel wool.

wow thanks guys
I'll check for the roll pin and the stamping. I'm renewing the front during a full resoration of the car and wanted to make sure i didn't order the wrong parts. |
