964 RS or 993 ?

It seems, with a little luck (and plenty hard work) my medical device patent is finally going to pay of this summer.

The 993 has always been my favorite model. However, the 964 RS has been lurking in the back of my head for several years. Especially with the odd colors. Its the business. Raw, light and racy.

This would be a third car. Probably no track, just spirited driving in the country and nice days to work.

I appreciate the versatility of the 993 but the hard core attitude of the RS is really growing on me. Is it a track-only car or would I be able to live with the harsh, bumpy, noisy ride as a leisure time car.

Or just go safe with the 993 ? Other suggestions ?

Any input appreciated !

Edit: I intend to keep my ´85 so as not to get kicked out of here.

I am not sure about the availability or cost but what about the best of both worlds................... a 993RS?

Congrats Markus - well deserved I know.

No bad choices there. Especially in Europe, I'd be in the hunt for a "real" RS - either 964 or 993.

As you say they are scarce and pricey. And for some reason I find the 964 rawer.

Markus,
Go for the RS and if you can cut it get the 993 RS

The RSA is nothing like a real RS

Good luck

The Euro 964 RS is a MUCH different animal than the 964 RS America. I've had 2 of the latter (being the brother that stormmaster referred to). With that said, the 964RS is a lightweight hard core near-race car, while the 993 is a much more comfortable road car. Both are very fast, probably very equal in that area. But they are like comparing apples and oranges.

I'd probably swing for the RS. But you can't go wrong with a 993.

Take that as gospel, 964RS wins by a landslide in my book.
