RUF bumper update

For those who may be interested, my new front bumper finally arrived . Brad from BW redesigned the original CTR replica to have brake ducts in place of fog lights which should come in handy for its future life on the track. I plan on installing a rubber lip in the next couple weeks, but all the paint work has been put off to be a winter project. The plan is to go yellow, any other color thoughts?

Brian

That looks really great, even in black! Did you do the work yourself? What did you do about the bumper shocks?

On the front, I used a piece supplied by BW to act as a buffer between the bumper and the body. It is basically some fairly heavy duty steel welded up to fit in the original bumper shock mounting points. At this time, the rear bumper has no shocks. I may change that some time in the future. The muffler was sort of designed like a sport muffler but with wider outlets. I did all the fitting and installation work of everything, but paid a guy ($60) to weld the exhaust outlets on once I had them exactly where I wanted them. Maybe I'll add some nice tips one day....
The black isn't too bad for the time being! I'm just happy to be driving it again after waiting for the front bumper to finish being fabricated!

Do you mean the whole car or just the bumpers? If it's just the bumpers, I would have to say no. I think the same color as the body would be perfect.

But, if you mean the whole car as yellow, that's cool, too. Speed yellow?

Thanks CHILI.
The whole car is is getting a paint job over the winter. I've been considering speed yellow, viper yellow, and there is a slight chance of something other than yellow....

wow-that looks fantastic--can you fill us in on your suspension setup and tires/wheels widths? I really like the stance--it looks great. Very nicely done.

Thanks for al the positive responses! I've always thought the color was Kiln Red Metallic, but I never sent away for the build sheet from Porsche. It is a euro car, and it was my impression it is a euro only color.
So....Some of you like the original color, huh..It looks good in the bright sunlight but takes on a brown color in anything less. I wish I could be happy with it, but I don't see it happening. I have considered just shooting the bumpers though to put off a full color change job, we'll see...
Suspension is all stock, other than being lowered. Fenders are rolled to help with clearance issues, you can see where the paint chipped off if you look closely. Wheels are Mille Miglia Cup replicas currently running Sumitomos. Bilstein sports to be installed soon.

Those bumpers look awesome…I have NEVER been a fan of the according style bumpers on the SC’s and Carreras but not been crazy about he fat lip look of the C2 either. I need that update. Please give more details. How much, where do I get them, I have never done body work before, is this something that takes a very skilled hand or could I learn as I go…how much to have someone else do the work...Please, more info.

If that front bumper had been available a year ago, I would have it on my car.

As for color, I think the yellow would be fantastic!

Brian, The fit looks very good. I spoke with Brad yesterday To add the front nurf bar to my order, & he told me that your bumpers had shiped not to long ago. Have you found a source for the rubber lip yet? What are you going to use for licence plate lights? those are the only parts that I have not found yet. I will be in Birmingham in October at the Barber Track for a DE Weekend. I am going with my son, who lives up there in Liberty Park. He has an 85 That the same color as yours. Craig

Brian, that really looks like a neat job. I wonder what a ducktail would like like on that and if that combo has ever been done before?

Can anyone photochop one on?
