'65 911 w/ 3.0SC engine?

65 Porsche 83 911 sc 3.0L engine&trans with webers,car is rust free, has
all wood dash& steering wheel...etc Black paint looks great, could use
some new carpet.Very fast.I've done all the trick stuff. At least $18000 or more in just parts....

Anyone know anything about this set-up?
know how much it could be worth?

I'm interested, and haven't seen such an early car with this configuration..

TIA,

K.

Would certainly be worth more with the orig 901/01 engine but ....
By your breif description I would say in the area of 10 to 15k .
Im assuming its a late 65` . If its an early 65 then it would be worth more.

Sounds like a deal if it really is rust free.

I just bought a '69 911 E Targa with a '79 trans/3.0 engine. It has a few rust issues but otherwise it is solid with a lot of updates. I'd describe it a rough around the edges but a great starting point that I can drive the heck out of while I restore. $10500 was the purchase price.

An original rust free '65 with a 3.0/915..it's hard to say without seeing it but I'd say at least $15k.

Sounds like a great car. I have a 3.2 in a '73 and couldn't be happier.

If you can sell it locally it should be worth a fair amount. If it gets eBayed to people in Oklahoma, etc. they will likely pay less. If it goes to the East Coast tho - or a big midwest city, and is advertised as a clean, Calif. car. then it will be owrth more.

As for a number, I haven't a clue. Check the newspaper, Hemmings, Exl. and see what comparable cars are listed for.

You can also set a rel. high price if you don't care how long it waits to sell.

He's not selling. He's looking to buy I guess. This car is advertised locally for $9K. If one was interested, I'd give it a very critical look and get a good PPI. When an ad self-proclaims $18K in parts and then offers the car for $9K I'm a little suspicious. On the other hand from a parts perspective a 915, 3L engine, and Webers alone could be worth $7-9K depending on the miles and condition. I'm not sure where the sellers other $10K in parts comes from though.

What's a 1965 rolling chassis go for? That would be a great drive train for a 914-6 conversion.

A '65 roller goes for five or six grand.

Fixing it is thirty more!

If I lived in the city, and the car ran and wasn't badly rusted, I'd snap it up and fast.

Maybe the owner needs cash badly; maybe he understands that parts drop 50% in value the moment they are installed; maybe something is wrong here... check it out and let us know.

Could be a great deal. On the other hand it may be a nightmare car where the owner has thrown parts at problems. A thorough PPI will tell you alot.

Looks like a nice purchase - love the wood wheel and early gauges.

Looks like the chrome front window trim is missing?

3.0 in a short wheelbase narrowbodied car with no aero aids and period wheels and tyres and original suspension set up?
Most fun you can have with your clothes on if you push it hard on a wet day on a twisty road - don't forget to pack a change of pants

Thanks all for the words of encouragement. I've always wanted a early car, something I could take my time and restore, and something that still has some nice speed. I can't believe it. The journey begins!!!

Nice score! As Isabo says with ~200hp in a swb car it could be alot of fun!
Any other details & stuff the PO did to it?

Looks like a great purchase. Love that wooden steering wheel. Don't believe those Fuchs are original. Original would have been ventilated steel '356' type. Fuchs weren't introduced to the 911 until 1967.

i do not want to dampen your spirits, but that is a 912 VIN number. Does not really matter with a 3.0 tho'
