'79 SC can't wakeup,,,no spark

Just pulled the cover off of my baby and quickly had the rude awaking myself when it wouldn't fire. discovered that there was no spark at the plugs. I took it a step further and pulled the center wire out of the cap and couldn't get it to spark off of the engine block. I checked fuses (unless there's some topsecret hidden ones) and put a light tester to the two leads to the coil and turned the key (not all the way, just enough for the juice to flow and didn't find any current there either. am I forgetting something simple?? it drove itself into the garage just fine last fall.
any help is always greatly appreciated

check your points if you still have them (79?) they won't fire the coil if they don't open/close.

no points on this baby, took off the cap and rotor, there is a little cover under the rotor but it looks to only be the advance weights under there. any other suggestions wont be kicked outta bed!!
thanks

Did you re hook up your battery?

If you never took the negative cable off, you might have a dead hunk of lead up front.

the battery was taken out and I put a full charge on it.....thankfully because I spent a good portion of today cranking....checking...cranking...checking........ .........

Well, i feel for you.

I just spent the weekend tearing out the PO's ratty wiring and Sony CD player. Now I'm without AC and a Radio. I figure if I just keep deleting things, I'll eventually have nothing that can break.

You would be a hero to the light weight crowd if you figured out how to do a CDI delete. Between the plugs, wires, CDI box, coil, and wiring harness, you are probably looking at saving 5-10 pounds, and it is all at the back end!
