May 27-29 Baja Norte Rally/Tour 3

Hi Everyone
Here we go again
We are working on the 3rd edition of the Baja Norte Rally Tour set to take place on the weekend of May 27-29, 2005.

We will meet east of San Diego Thursday evening on the 26th for some fun casino action and stay in a local hotel.

May 27th: Friday morning will have us all leave together for some great so cal back roads on our way to our stop at the border in Tecate.
After crossing over together we will rendezvous with our partner, Octavio and his crew, before setting out on our rally/tour. We will have our route books, excellent support crew , including flat bed tow truck- just in case!(after 10 years+ of playing south of the border, we have yet to use their services, but most thankful that he is there to support us!)

Something special for this year: We will visit the Rancho Equestre Cucapa (on the way to Ensenada) for the preliminary day of the Fiesta Del Caballo (Horse Festival for you Gringos!). They have generously arranged for us to (if we so choose) go horseback riding, have a nice lunch, or just relax under the trees in the beautiful Guadalupe Valley. Right next door is the Adobe Winery, so if tasting is your pleasure, you are welcomed there as well.

Friday night is planned in Ensenada with our get together dinner at Bronco's Steak House- considered one of the best in all of Mexico, these guys really know how to take care of us!
We have a couple of options on hotels- please
see below and respond asap so we can make arrangements with them. Ensenada has a fun port atmosphere ; home to Hussongs and Papas & Beer , plus other colorful establishments.

May 28th: Saturday morning: Sleep in a little, you don't have to be in a rush! We will meet at the HQ hotel parking lot and caravan north of town to do part of the famed La Carrera Classica route. This sinewy road will test your skills and lend you some spectacular views.
Upon our return back down the hill, we will caravan to La Bufadora for a leasurely lunch overlooking the bay.

Saturday night it open so you can enjoy one of the many gourmet or casual restaurants Ensenada has to offer.

May 29th: Sunday morning- we meet for our good bye breakfast at Las Casuelas Restaurant in Ensenada and then caravan our way back to Tecate to cross back to the USA. We have found this to be the least hassle crossing with the smallest wait time. Most times we get to cross within 30 minutes or less. If you wish to stop at the Fiesta Del Caballo on the way back - you are more
than welcome.

This event is open to all sports cars. This is NOT a competitive event! You are adults and expected to drive in a sensible manner. Though we have a special relationship with the Federales, you are NOT welcomed to break the law. I can say that everyone that has attended these events in the past have
had a real blast. You will meet a lot of fun car people from both sides of the border.

Hotel Survey:
The San Nicolas is one of Ensenada's largest and oldest hotels. Full service bar with entertainment, courtyard pool, fenced parking with attendant 24/7, and a short couple blocks walk to the shopping and restaurants (actually stumbling distance from Bronco's- just across the street!) about $63 nite

OR

The luxurious Marina Coral . Located at the entrance of Ensenada on the ocean. Constructed in the late 90's with outdoor/indoor pools, gym, marina, modern rooms. Pricing is $150- up per nite. Parking is in their covered lot in front of the hotel. Distance to the shopping district is about 5/8 mile

Cost per car in this event is $100. This includes our logistics expenses in planning, route books, tow truck rental, and other expenses in setting upthis event. Your hotel stays, food, gas, Mex. Insurance are all on your own.

Please let us know if you plan on attending and which hotel you wish to stay in. We look forward to you joining us for a most memorable weekend
Regards

This sounds like a great trip. It would be better Saturday – Monday since Monday 5/30 is Memorial Day holiday. Taking Friday off would be difficult for me.

the good thing about a friday/saturday event is the relatively low traffic on the roads, so there is a lot less interference with our group
hope you can make it
