'Street' 962 on eBay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6058&item=4538364654&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

oh my it's hideous.

I'd describe it here, but that would just be cruel...

This guy should check his spelling, it might lead to a bit better credibility when posting his ad.

It's Vern Schuppan, not Van Schuppan. Vern Schuppan was a well-known Australian Porsche 956/962 driver and later car owner.

I never saw the actual cars, but Andial was going to build the 50 962 engines to power these street intended cars. They were going to be the single turbo air-cooled motor rather then the late model twin-turbo water-cooled version, based strictly on cost. Vern's attempt was the first that I was aware of trying to market a 962 street car. Jochen Dauer (another well known 962 car owner from Germany who is probably best remembered here in the States for the Andretti vs. Unser challenge at Daytona in 1991) also ended up building some road going 962 models in Germany, which also look more like the actual race car then the 959/Gruppe B look in the ebay ad above.

The Schuppan motors were also going to have to run with air conditioning and other modern "conveniences". Andial even hired an extra fabricator for the sole purpose of making the various brackets, etc that would be required. Andial completed a couple of motors for dyno testing and then delivery and had a whole slew of motors along an "assembly" line in the race shop in various states of assembly. Then, Vern's financing went south and that was that. I wasn't privy with the info if Andial ever got paid for the completed work and the work in progress but I'm pretty confident that they probably got a nice sum up front before work was completed.
