opinions about Hawk Blues in rain?
I'll be attending this weekend's DE @ MidOhio (sponsored by the Potomac region). As of today, the forecast appears to be calling for a rainy weekend with temperatures in the mid 50's. For those of you with experience with Hawk Blue compound, will these be effective in a rainy environment? Will they generate enough heat to be useful, or should I stick with the HP Plus compound that's on the car now? The car is a 1983 SC with AJ USA brake cooling ducts and Carrera front calipers and rotors.

I've never had problems with Hawk Blues. They are a very aggressive stoping pad. Make sure you get them hot when bedding them in. However, I've found them to be very hard on rotors. Also, when used in the rain, the combination of brake dust, heat, and water forms a black crud that almost chemically bonds to bare metal. If you have fuchs or similar, put somekind of barrier on them (wax?) prior to using them.

I have not run blues in the rain but they like the heat. With the temps you are going to see I would tape over the duct openings and see if they fade at all (not likely). Bring along the HP's and if you need to, do the switcheroo.
Have fun.
