Euro Bumpers

Regarding 1984-1988 911 coupes rear bumpers:

Are the rear bumper shock absorbers on an American spec car different than those on a Euro spec car? Lighter?

Can they be fitted to and American spec car with out much trouble?

How would I go about finding a set?

I also want to do away with the large black bumperets and in their place use the smaller Euro parts. Where could I find a set? Would they be available from Porsche?

I had thought of going to a fiberglass rear bumper but I would rather not give up the rear crash protection it affords since the car is used daily.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think the euro crush tubes are getting hard to find. There was a guy in the classifieds looking without much luck for a while.

Euro Crush tubes

Could they be purchased through a Porsche Dealer in Europe? I assume that if the car in involved in an accident the crush tubes would have to be replaced.

Are they lighter than the American spec shocks? Would they be a bolt on part for an American spec car

Part no. 911 505 046 03 Impact pipe (2)

I can call the dealer here tomorrow and get price and availablity. Wayne has it listed as a special order item for $110. It says "availablity varies" though.

I'm sure it won't be cheaper from here, especially with the exchange rate, but I'll be happy to ask.

Euro Bumper

Thank you for the help. I will send you a pm. Are the smaller euro bumper pads also available from a euro dealer?

Euro Bumpers

I just called Pelican and was able to order both the crush tubes and the small euro bumperets or pads.

I feel silly not trying Pelican first. They did not have them in stock and they may take up to three weeks if they have to come from Europe but I can wait.

Thank you to all for your help

Euro bumpers

Since the only cars that would have the crush tubes are gray market I thought that a used set would be very difficult to find if at all. New just was the easy way to go.

I do appreciate all the information get from the forum. I only wish I could contribute but my experience with 911s is some what limited.
