E-brake light won't turn off...

My SC has the permanent e-brake light on the dash now, the one next to the seat belt light. I have heard this can cause one to fail safety inspection. I know this is common 993's, but I don't think the causes are the same between an SC and 993. Is there an easy check for this? Thanks.

key on, disconnect and reconnect battery clamp, key off, then start. that usually gets it.

If that doesn't work: There is a switch located under the E-Brake lever. It sometimes loosens up and slips out of position. Re-position it and then check the lights again.

Rick-just went thru the exact same problem. My brakes were working fine so I doubted it was the MC. The MC has 2 pressure switches. You can see them on the side of the MC with wire sockets that attach to them. I was told that sometimes these fail so I replaced both ($7.50 each fom our sponsor). I also did an extensive bleed of the brakes as a local PCA member had said "This could also be residual pressure in either the front or rearbrake system. Sometimes the pressure reducing valve in the rearcircuit or the floating piston in the master cylinder between the front and rear pressure chambers sticks and prevents the brake lightfrom turning off. Bleeding the brakes on a regular basis helps to prevent this problem."

After changing the pressure switches and the brake bleed, no brake light.

Rick, my SC had the same issue recently. While at RPM for my air box, Stan took my car for a spin. As he's driving, he pulls out the clock from the dash - reaches his hand thru the hole - and disconnects and reconnects the E-brake light bulb. Problem solved.

I thought that was pretty cool.
