36hr Old 997 Stolen!

Gotta feel sorry for this guy who had his 997 36 hours before a low-life maggot wrecked it... Sure it's insured, but now he's up for a 15 month wait on a new one

Before I read this, I was wondering how they got the thing started - these modern cars are very difficult to steal these days just by driving off...

"A CAR-lover's dream ride turned into a nightmare when a thief stole his $250,000 Porsche and crashed it."

$250,000 AUD = $192,086 USD. Can that be true?

Oh yes... $192,000 USD is what we pay for the product over here! The majority is taxes (to protect Henry and the General's interests here), the rest is because they are classed as "luxury vehicles".

This is why I love Pelican so much, I'll probably never afford a new Porsche, so I need to keep my older one in peak condition

I was talking to a former colleague (cop) not long ago who identified a real trend in house burglaries to target exotic and rare cars in the garage by "burging" the house specifically for the keys that we carelessly just toss anywhere. I know I'm guilty of anally securing the car and then walking inside and leaving the keys on the kitchen counter...

A 997 Carrera S costs 1 350 000 kr = 220 000 USD here. (With no extra stuff)
Try to beat that!

OK, where is "here"?
I've traveled a good deal, esp. in Asia, on Uncle Sam's (economy) dime, but I don't recognize kr.

Personally, my keys hang on my belt....just under the shoulder holster containing my 92SB.
My take on the situation....make sure there is no repeat offender!

Sad. Even if they catch the moron, it'll be just probation. Like here in Canada, even after several convictions for car theft, probation is the most severe sentence, unless the low-life kills someone, then it is two months jail, out in 3 weeks.
