I've located what appears to be the correct Bosch fuel injector information for the 87-89 3.2 liter Carrera. This injector may have been used prior to 1987, but I haven't verified this use yet.
Model number: 0 280 150 158 Impedance: Low, 2.4 ohms Flow rate: 229 cc/min @ 3 bar* Flow rate in pounds/hour: 21.8 References: http://users.erols.com/srweiss/tableifc.htm http://www.homepages.hetnet.nl/~peters_w/Techtalk/Injectors/Injectors.html http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/fuel-12.htm *this information is in conflict with other info I located which indicates the fuel pressure at this volume to be calculated at 2.5 bar I'll do further research to clear this up and then edit this message. Most likely this flow rate is calculated at 3.0 bar. |

Please explain what I could do with this info? Can I select a slightly larger flow and still have a resonably smooth running car with maybe a little more full pedal rush? Steve W. can you chim in on this, would larger injectors flow more ALL the time or just at full pedal>
Thanks Keith Epperly 87 slant nose turbo look carrera cabriolet |

If your engine is stock, then the information above won't necessarily help you except when you want a replacement or to have the injector overhauled and blueprinted.
If, on the other hand, you're going to larger displacement or other enhancements, you will want to use an injector that hits the engines max power at an 80% duty cycle. The 150 158 injector is supposedly good for better than 250 hp, but might be right at or slightly above the 80% duty cycle level. It's at this point you'd want to consider a different injector, one with a highter flow rate. Also, I wanted to see if a lower cost alternative was available, I haven't conclusively found that information, so can't reliably say at this time. |
