Where can I rent or borrow a car in the SF area?

I am returning to the Bay Area for the Hillsborough Concours weekend of April 30. I used to live there and have been on the Car Selection Committee and have, for the past several years, co-chaired the Tour. I need to find a car to rent for the drive. It doesn't have to be a classic, but it needs to at least be interesting.

Any sources? I just need the car for one day.

I will have to think about that one..I lived at the top of Barriolet so needless to say I was eveyones best friend for parking during the Concours ...letting someone borrow my car though....I will check the area for a place with interesting rentals and post if I find one.

Let me know if you come up with anything

I used to live off of Black Mountain.

If you come up with any sources, let me know. Last year, I rented a Viper from a company that was based at one of the Burlingame airport hotels, but they went out of business the day I rented the car (literally- they were loading all of the other cars on a trailer as I went to pick up the Viper!).

I used to live near Vista Park... sniff sniff, I miss that place. Some fun roads up in Hillsborough... at least they were fun to me as an irresponsible teen.

I miss EVERYWHERE in the Bay Area- I can't think of an area with SO many great diving roads- 280, Skyline, Highway One, anywhere up through Woodside, Portola Valley, La Honda, Pescadero.....Marin, etc.

I sold my 996 daily driver when I got back East, but missed Porsches so much I bought the 73 S.

I believe some time in the near future I will have a 70-73 S. As a kid I remember coming home from North School and my dad who always had Corvettes bringing home the first of many Porsche's in 1972 . I love the opening scenes of the movie Le Mans where McQueen is driving his 911 through town..I want that exact car ! They are timeless.

California has great roads..1 down the coast..lots of nice roads from 1 over the hill to 280..up 101 then into the wine country...plus we have Sears Point/Infineon 50 min away , Laguna Seca an hour and 15 min and Thunderhill 2 1/2 hours away..great area for car enthusiast no doubt.

STOP! This is too painful!

You are killing me! I miss the area so much that it hurts! Now, I am going back for a car related event and I don't have a car to drive!

Something a little sexier?

I have reserved a new Mustang Convertible from Hertz as my back-up plan.

I've never used them but you could try specialtyrentals.com. I've never rented anything exotic or sporty. I'm usually stuck with cheap business travel rentals.
