Chain housing stud unscrewed. Help?
I was replacing the leaking o-ring on the oil feed to right chain tensioner. When I removed the nuts that hold the chain housing cover, two of the studs backed out. They simply unscrewed from the chain housing with no damage and can be rethreaded easily.
I was able to remove the siezed nylock nuts and I cleaned up the rusty threads that were preventing easy removal of the nuts. Should the studs be rethreaded with loctite, and if so, what color or type? Also, what is the torque spec for reinstallation of the cover?

A common occurence, no panic. You can double-nut the stud with 2 wrenches, screw it back in until it bottoms out and use 2 wrenches to remove the 2nd nut. Don't overtighten, they are small nuts; snug them up reasonably tight. If they leak a little, tighten some more. I don't use Loctite on these.

Clean the bore and stud thoroughly with Brakleen or similar degreaser [Q-tips in the bore] and apply red Loctite.
