value of a complete Euro 3.0L motor?

Hey guys, if I were to sell my motor from my '77 Carrera 3.0, what would it's value be?

It has 2 major compression leaks, and will need rebuilding, I imagine.

I'll know shortly how many studs are broken.

Any ideas of a ballpark figure?

The price of a fresh motor minus the cost of a rebuild. What does that leave.... a buck fifty?

sorry... just a bump up.

Thanks for your reply. Incidentally, let me know when you have a mtr to sell, I'm interested. ;^)

Perhaps I should rephrase: What is the value of a Carrrera 3.0 case, rods, crank, heads, cams, etc. in rebuildable condition?

Haven't seen one in a while but a few years back club racers I knew where buying them for about 3k to 3,500 for a decent motor, no frills , running...and that was about 3 years ago though. I can't imagine a 3 liter with problems is worth that much money. My shop is actually in Moorseville near you . I will ask my tech what's what.

You use Swart's shop in Moorsville?

or are you thinking SpeedWerks that used to be there?

I love the wa yit comes with the book - it's like they bought all that stuff with the intention of rebuilding the engine - started to read the book and thought ' crap - I can't do this, and especially not on the kitchen table!!"
