Weights of Aluminum trailers

Folks,

Anyone know the weights of common aluminum trailers? I went to Featherlite's site but there is no data. What is the lightest trailer I can buy?

Trying to find out whether I can tow a 2500 lb car with a 3500 lb towing capacity....wishful thinking??

T

Trailex, about 750 pounds.

Personally, I had considered towing my race car (#2250) on the trailer, with spares, fuel, etc., all-up around 3500 pounds, with an Audi Allroad, but at the end of the day I was concerned that I couldn't get a Class III hitch receiver to bolt up.

John,

Thank you for replying and excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between class II and class III??

According to my local dealer the Featherlite 14' is around 1300 lbs. The 17' is another 100 lbs heavier.

Trailex has weights on their website. The two most common are the 750 lb that John mentions and the next size up at 850 lbs.

This doesn't include any add ons like the tire rack, fairings, etc.

John,

Thanks. Very informative. So a 2500 lb car + 750 lb trailer +200 lbs of gear would come in at 3450 lbs. Would that be asking for trouble on a class II hitch? I'm thinking that there has to be a safety factor built in somewhere for loads on the limit....
