OBD-II scanner/reader

Hello,

Anyone have any luck purchasing and using the OBD reader from pelican?

Anyone reccomend a better one or if the reader is even worth it?

It is only 150 bucks, figured what do I have to lose?

Thanks

Tyler

Look at www.scantools.net

Loads of free software will run on this OBD II box.

Or you could get a serial to USB converter. They are around $20-$30, I believe.

Will any of these work on a porshe 993 motor? I have a euro motor from a 1995 993 and adapted the 16 pin diagnostic port on the DME. The Bosch Hammer works on scanning the DME but I am looking for a more cost effective solution. Will the AutoEnginuity program work or the scanttool for my application?
Thanks.

Hi code7rpd,

Wher you able to get an answer for this issue. I am in the same situation and wonder how you solved it.

Thanks

Mario,

I was able to figure it out from the wiring diagrams and installed it prior to selling the car. I may have written the instructions down. I will see if I can find them and I will let you know - I may have posted them on this forum but I don't remember.

If it has the standard OBD II connector, it should work. Not sure if it works with OBD I.
