Do I have 8's & 9's?
Hi Folks,
I knew the PO of my car had upgraded my wheels (although the refinishing job was a big time downgrade), but I always assumed they were 7's & 8's. I saw a photo of a 9 here recently and it set me to thinking. I put a tape measure on my rims as you see below. Does this mean that these wheels are actually 8's & 9's? I'm placing the inside edge of the tape on the top lip; the abrupt 90 bend as it heads down toward the (lower) inner lip. What do you think (yes I know I need to do something with my wheels)? Edit Edit: God forbid that I should just pull the wheel and check the part #... |
I don't have 9s so can't tell you definitively. But to my eye, those look like 7s and 8s (as they look just like mine).

Measure up Edward!

The 9's will have deep holes for the lug nuts. If the 8's are from a 944 Turbo (951 part # on back) they will also have the deep holes.

Do you have an overall photo of the rims?

Easiest way without description is to pull a few wheels and get the part numbers. We'll be able to tell exactly after that.

Like Mike said, pull the wheels
The back of an 8 that will fit on the front looks like this http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1113998279.jpg The back of a 9 looks like this http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1113998320.jpg As Chris said they both have recessed lugs, but unless you know what you are looking for that may not be immediately apparent |
