"Squeegee" Seal and weatherstripping help
 

'70 911T Targa, doing the fun job of new weatherstripping...

The "squeegee" seal on the outside of the glass that slides into the chrome window sill...it stinks, i got the old brittle one out finally...but are there any tricks to sliding the new one thru?? should i use soap or gasoline or anything slippery?? any advice would rule.

I'd try armorall as the "slippery"...

Use silicon grease. Won't hurt the rubber.

Much easier if you remove the outer metal window trim. Use a nylon or plastic wedging-type tool and lift the trim upwards so the spring retaining clips (seven clips and 3 plastic locaters I recall) clear the holes in the door. In a pinch, fashion an equivalent tool by wrapping a single layer of plastic electrical tape over a thin, broad-tip slotted screwdriver and pry upwards evenly. Do not attempt to remove by sliding the trim off. Needless to say, be careful with the paint in this area.

However, try the silicone spray, Armorall and Dow 111 grease tricks first.

Just went out and got mine off the car. I used a plastic screw driver used to work on electronics, worked great. The old squeegee slid right out haven't tried to put the new one in yet. Need to clean it up first. Learn something new about the car every day. Joe thanks for starting this thread, perfect timing. Would be great to see the pics of your car.
