78 SC buying advise
Hi.
I am new to this forum and would like to know if someone could tell me what obvious problems I should look for that a newbie might miss. I am looking at a 78 coupe with 114k miles. I looked at the car and its nice but when I brake, it pulls to the right. I figured the brakes need adjustment but the person selling it said it was a suspension part that wears out with time???? He showed me a pic of the part and he said it costs about $250. It looks the the crossmember to me. Also, the AC was removed. I personally do not use it but is it a bad thing? It also has an aftermarket 930 rear spoiler. If I am rambling I opologize. Its just that I was taking in allot of informartion that I am new to. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

Read a lot on this board before you buy.
Don't use your first purchase to figure out what you really want. Figure it out before you buy, not after. |

If your serious - get a PPI (Pre Purchase Inspection) done by a local reputable shop. (Do a "search" on this BBS for one in your area). Have them go through it, get a copy of the inspection and post it here. Fellow members will chime in with advice and $ value. Include pics. Members here are like car guys everywhere else - they love pictures.

My advice based on personal experience is - get a thorough PPI, so that you know what you will really have once the obvious repairs are completed, and so long as when you are done investing in improvements, starting with braking stuff to make it stop, like tires and brakes, and finishing with stuff to make it go, like tie rods, short shift, etc, it is a car you will be happy with, or is a solid car that you can resell without paying too much for the experience. Read as much as you can on this and other sites before you pull the trigger. A/C and aftermarket tails only have value if you want them.
