Billet factory shift knob or similar for less than $80????
Hi does anyone know of such an animal. My Nomo Super Anitomico is actually not working out too well (wrong angle for my hand), and I would like to go back to just a plain "round" ball shifter (black or brushed aluminum), but it looks like I have to spend an arm and a leg to get one. If I only had access to a metal shop!!!!
No rice please. Thanks! :) |
Hey Bill - so Oracle still doesn't have a machine shop for employees - when will Larry get that benefits package up to snuff.
Have you tried eBay? These seem to fit your requirements: |
nice ORCL joke
how about that wood 917 one? search here - think he still has some left |
Oooh... I like that first one!
|
LOL. Like Larry is going to get his hands dirty :)
Funny, when we last had a division meeting with our EVP, he made an analogy about people who change their own oil, and I was one of the guys (out of say 2000 people) who raised their hand who said they did. Kind of shocking that there are a lot of people who have no idea how to even change their own oil. Doubtful that a machine shop would fly - but I would love it!!! Anyway, I was looking at the same knob whilst cruising eBay. Thanks! |
Randy, what was that link?
|
you'll have to search 917 + shift + knob + wood or wooden
I use search and don't keep track of links. Note - it's smaller than most - some like that - saw no complaints. |
Maybe if you start a credible rumor that Bill Gates has installed a machine shop for his car fanatic employees then Larry will follow suit - kind of like in the early 90s when Larry refused to eliminate free soft drinks for employees because Microsoft had them for their employees -
|
I actually tried a few - then ended up buying the factory knob - it feels great!
|
I too like the factory knob, but with shipping, tax, crush sleeve and all your banking up towards $100 USD. I think that is a lot of coin for something ever so basic. Like I said - if I had access to a lather - I could make one for probably under $20

If you're interested in the 917 replica wooden knob, the info is available at 914.club.com in the "Resources" forum. They're relative cheap for as nice as they are.

I was thinking of replacing my factory knob for a new one. Does anyone know where factory knobs(other than black) can be purchased? This is for a 1987.
Thanks. |
The matching leather type probably has to be a dealer item..
