Getting ready to paint the 73, pull the doors?

Im getting ready to paint the 73 coupe and Im trying to figure out a plan. I already painted the engine bay and wheel wells. What I can't decied on is if I should remove the doors. I figure I could paint the jams and interior side of the doors, and then mask off and paint the exterior with the doors on. The problem with this is im sure I wont get paint on the front part of the door on the inside. The plus side is I wont have to adjust the doors again and I won't have to worry about screwing up the door.

The car was originally silver and then painted black. Im repainting it silver and have stripped off all the old paint and everthing is now in primer. The windows are out and the interior has been removed, as well as the bumpers and trim. I didn't remove the paint from the inside part of the doors down to bare metal but I did get down to the original silver in most places.

Since Im spraying it a metalic silver I would thing the exterior would look better sprayed with the doors on, but Im just wondering if anyone has any other ideas or tips.

Most pro shops will paint the car with the doors off.

Having said that i fyou took the doors off painted the sills and and surronds then masked it off you would get an even finish on the metallic.

I plan on spraying my car with out the doors guards bootlid or bonnet on so that I dont get dry patches of over spray in the joints.

If your doors are adjusted already you can remove the pins out of both hinges and you wont have to re-adjust the doors again with the 3 bolts and shims per hinge. The paint seem to come out much better if the door is removed before painting and its not too bad of a job. Good luck.

I'll try pulling the pins but I put in new bushings and they may be a pain to get back out. I guess I know pulling the doors is the right way to do it. I'm just worried I'll get them painted and then booger them up trying to get them back on the car.

I guess I'll paint the bottom of the engine lid, trunk, and interior side of the doors. Then I'll paint everything else at once. I'm just cramped for space so I have to figure out how to do it without getting overspray everywhere. Im still using an old conventional gun, SATA Jet 90 and it really fogg's the place up.
