Removing Side deco trim

How do you remove the side deco trim on an early 911 ('68 SWB), how is it attached? Any tips and tricks?

Thanks but that's for a later car. This is just a metal strip with a rubber insert.

pull out the rubber insert out and there are screws behind it, then I can tell you how to get the rubber back on.

While waiting...
Go buy some detergent, some silicone spray and a good pair of quality 90o needle nose pliers....

It's gonna be a mutha to get back in.

Any tips for pulling out the rubber without damaging it? I am going to give it a try this afternoon. I am thinking warm water would help or leaving out in the sun.

I am thinking of removing the side trim, from bumperettes (I'll have to see what's behind them) and installing a mesh grill under the lid.

Thanks Randy and Craig!

I am thinking there has to be a trick to this, how did the factory do it? The metal part had to be screwed in first and the rubber next. I am going to look in my parts catalog when I get home, maybe I could just remove the some of the trim where the screws are.

I guess if its a real old rubber it may not pull out very well without breaking? and would be real hard to put back in too, I worked with a new rubber on mine and used a screwdriver to push the rubber back into the slot but then it was rather soft too.

Nevermind there a seven screws total. I am going to check with my paint and body guy about the cost to fill and respray the holes first.
