1991 C2 on Ebay, comments please
OK, how many contradictions can you find in this ebay listing, and do you think it is a scam or hijacked account?
|
I think it could be a legitimate offer to sell. The car is in Brazil, the seller is in Florida. the price is about $2000 below blue book Private party retail, so no flaming bargain.
Unless you fly to Brazil for a test drive (more$$$$) remembering the car has been sitting for two years, you really don't know the condition. Then, you could also run into big $$$ difficulties getting it OUT of Brazil. I used to live there, and the bureaucracy there is world famous for being both byzantine and corrupt. Taxes are high, and if this dude owes taxes of any kind they will need to be paid before an export guia will be processed. Not worth the time, IMHO. There are many better cars aleady here, and this one is nothing exceptional... Just one man's opinion, YMMV... |
Hmmm...3hrs to go and no bids, it can be had for next to nothing!
|
Why is it listed as a 1966?
To many inconsistancies for my taste. Are you moving to Brazil? What about the leaky heads, and clutch problems on the 90 & 91's? |
Why would you buy a 91 and immediately repaint it and change the interior color? Why not just buy it that way?
Complete 930 body kit? Where? Smells fishy. |
you'd change the colors if it was hot when you sent it to Brazil. I dont se no turbo body kit either. Sounds like a scam to me.

Even if it's not a scam, you're buying it sight unseen. Paying to get it out of Brazil, paying shipping, hoping it has the right emissions package to even be allowed in the US, then you paying duty, state taxes & license...Not worth the risk and headaches....These Ebay vehicles are NEVER as represented IMHO...
|
The decklid reads C4. So which is it? I'd be pretty upset if I bought a C2 sight-unseen and got a C4 or vice versa. C4 must come in handy cruisin around the Amazon though. http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/...s/krakrani.gif Zach

Still, owners do tend to ignore problems that they have just come to live with. It may not be misrepresentation, as much as wishful thinking. No one wants to point out their babys flaws. |
I got my car via eBay three years ago and the seller was honest and a gentleman to deal with. The seller was local so I was able to test drive the car and check it out ...

Got mine of ebay. I did fine.

I've sold cars on eBay and never ripped anyone off. They were exaclty as advertised.....
However, it seems that alot of these foreign country car sales are an attempt to part you from your money. The 2 things I would ask for would be a faxed copy of the title & a vehicle inspection. Tell them you have someone local to where the car is and want them to check it out. If they balk, run away....If they agree then check the internet. You can get any car inspected most anywhere by an impartial 3rd party..... Of course, as has been said in this thread, buying is only half the problem..getting it out of that foreign country and into the US is another matter all together......if it was legit and priced at 30 or 40% below retail, maybe.....but to be only $2000 lower than you could buy one from the US probably isnt savngs enough to get it here and the hassle involved.... as always, just my 2 cents... Be careful & good luck Chris |
