Hood Seal Tabs?

My hood seal has a tab on each front corner that prevents the hood from fitting flush when closed. Are these supposed to be there? Or are they left over from the manufacturing process and need to be trimmed off?

I don't have them on my '76 911 either, although mine is bastardized.

Checked mine too. Nada. Are they plastic or metal?
Chop 'em off, I say.

Tabs belong to effect a better water seal for the front trunk. Hate to tell you this but they go under the "smile". The front of the trunk gasket should be installed before the smile is installed. Jim
