Looking for help identifying and pricing wheels.

Last fall, I purchased a 78 911SC which came with these wheels:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1114832504.jpg

I have since replaced them with Fuchs. A local club member has expressed interest in purchasing these wheels, but first I must establish a fair price. Some additional information about the wheels:

1. The wheels are 17 inch. I measured them rim to rim, and came up with a width approximation of 9 inch front, 10 inch rear.

2. The tire size is 215/45-17 fronts, 235/45-17 rears. Tire mfg./type is Falken Ziex ZE502's, with about 6/32nds tread remaining all around. (If I'm doing my metric conversions properly, wouldn't these tire sizes seem more appropriate for 8" front and 9" rear wheels?)

3. Offsets: Front = 25, Rear = 15

4. The wheels say -

and also P.C.D.130-http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1114833489.jpg

Cosmetically not perfect, perhaps 9 on a 10 scale, due to minimal curbing. All four wheels have centercaps. Are these a cup wheel? And does "Made in Japan" indicate a knockoff of original Porsche wheels? Lastly, what is a fair price for these wheels and tires?

Thanks, Gary S.

Hey BRG,

The fact that they're made in japan means, of course, that they are knockoffs and not real Fuchs. The PCD means 'Pitch Circle Diameter', and refers to the diameter of the circle the stud holes are drilled on.

Apart from that it's hard to say. Are they Aluminum? No maker's mark anywhere to be seen?

Hello ianc. I'm fairly certain that they are aluminum. They have a few other markings on the spokes...one says "92/11", which I'm assuming is the manufactured date. Also, stamped into a small circle on another spoke is "2/8", and just to the right of this stamping is "f1". I see no indication of a manufacturer.

Ian, the wheel pictured, I believe, is a cup style wheel. I replaced them with Fuchs. :) But I understand what you're saying...Made in Japan = a knockoff.

Knock off Cups are available brand new in the old offsets for around $875 for the set.

Great info. guys, thanks. This certainly helps to estimate the current market value for these wheels. And Spede, great color on that cab.
