The last time I saw plumbing like this on a car, it was driven my Michael J Fox. Are these just elaborate intercoolers or what?

I have two words for that... throttle response!

Turbo power is awesome and wicked speeds can be attained down the long straight and thru turn 1 at Pacific Raceways, but 3.6 Varioram makes a for a very fast, fun, and reliable track car!

I have two other Turbo cars - I went with Varioram because I LOVE it ;-)
Nick - I will make a post tomorrow regarding the holes in the bumper; in short, I replicated a GT3 center radiator air flow - slots in the smile, etc.

Turned out well, and lowered my temps by 40 degrees. Yes, 40!

that is an air to water intercooler. Sometimes called an aftercooler. When you add ice water the inlet temps actually can go under ambient. These are much better suited for drag cars. I ran one in my mustang. Very cool pics indeed

Nice! i need a solution to my problem... i have $800 for a big oil cooler but that wont get me a bumper to put it behind. (or at least a painted bumper to put it behind )

To me that intercooler looks like an air to air with a water spray on it.

That's what I was thinking too. Isn't this the famed "rubbermaid" solution? A cooler of water and ice strapped into the passenger compartment. Small pump and water spray on your intercooler. Need to turn up the boost? Then start your pump and spray ice cold air mist on your intercooler to keep temps down.

It's too big for an air to water - typically they are much more efficient - and smaller.

Just my .02 cents - and I may be 100% wrong.
