Fuel Pump on a 76

Hi All
Out cycling the oil around town the other day and she dies on me in a hard turn (911 + rotary = fun) and I coasted to the turn in for my neighborhood, turned over great just wouldn't start. Well My buddy drove by and towed it up to the house. Everyone of course loved it, me with my new little red p.o.s. being towed home. I'll laugh last I tell ya...

Anyway, after we tow it to the driveway, I try it again and she starts right up. Pull it in the garage, turn it off and the fuel pump is staying on. I pulled the battery cable, went golfing.

I've search the archives, sounds like new pump time. I have a few questions; (1) can the substantially less expensive pump for a 77 be used?, (2) do I get kicked off the board if I rig up a little toggle switch for the pump?

Thanks, Rob
