Can I send you mine for refurb??? I echo the guy that stated he woulda quit after the first slice of the tail.

Good Job!!

RickM 05-02-2005 06:10 AM

Very imprssive work. It takes guts to slice that section out.

Question: Did you you use three sections of "rail" for the studs? I'm not thinking it would be easy to bend it to contour to the sides.

BeauBlues 05-02-2005 07:45 AM

RickM, I took a long piece of square pipe and cut it in half length wise. It's a solid piece, so no bending was involved.

Blues,
look like you are a handy man. How is your leg, and your new 993?

Wow. I remember this thread from 6 years ago. My tail was separating then and it's still separating. One day.:D

Excellent write up. This is worth a bump for people now looking for this exact fix. Now I'll have to put my own touch on this and fix my tail tomorrow.

This "support rod" that is embedded in the rubber tail and has to be cut out - does anyone have a photo of what it looks like (the one in this example was completely dissolved by oxidation!).

porwolf 05-30-2014 10:05 AM

BeauBlues, could you tell us exactly what glue you used? Brand name, source, etc.? That glue could possibly be used in many places.

poorsha 05-30-2014 11:23 AM

Nothing better than a nice looking tail :)
Great job.

What did you do for the grill on the underside of the air vents. Here's mine:

I'm looking for a better alternative to the "stucco grate" piece that's in there now.
