Any good ideas for hanging a 911 hood?

I was wondering if there is someway to hang my hood from a ceiling to paint. Will the latch on the hood support the wait of the hood?

I seem to paint much better vertical surfaces than horizontal so it may be a good idea to hang. Also, the thing takes up way too much floor space that I don't have any room to bring the doors into my painting area. Everything else is in the small space is near ready to go. This is really winding down. Thank god.

Thanks,

David

I totally forgot about that side of the hood. Must be all the paint fumes starting to get to me. I'll take a look tonight and see if it works.

Thank you,

David

The hood really isn't that heavy, I've used the 'S' hooks - attached on the under hood side-from a heavy duty bungee cord (the heavy rubber variety) and rope/light weight chain before.

YOu can insert two bolts into the hinge mounts. Better is to lay it flat on some supports. The paint will lay flatter (flow) and you can spray slightly heavier to eliminate orange peel and not worry as much about runs.

I would rather paint it flat.

I used to do some commercial painting. For high gloss garage doors, the trick is to lay a heavy coat on it while closed, then immediately raise the door to its horizontal position to prevent any runs.

I'd Paint it flat too. Much easier on all counts (paint, blocking, wet sanding, etc.). Find/make/rent a paint dolly or padded sawhorse and shoot one side at a time (bottom side first, then top). YMMV.

I will be 4th to say paint it flat also. You may get a run or two if it is painted vertical.
