FenderGuy, I have dealt with them exclusively for the last three years of owning my 944. The owner's name is Duran and it is a small shop that does very nice work at reasonable prices. Duran will typically tell you how to make necessary repairs at a reasonable cost and will warn you off cut rate fixes that will be detrimental in the long run. Though he does work on Mercedes he seems primarily to work on Porsche and mostly on 911's, though I have seen 914's, 944's, 951's and 928's in his shop.

Another guy here on Pelican - PorscheKid962 - works at the shop and will give it a great rating. Seriously, it is a solid but small shop.

In fairness, there is another shop in Pasadena, Scientific Automotive only a few blocks away from Strictly German. The owner is "Jack" He has been very fair too. A larger shop and a bit more glossy, but higher priced too. You wouldn't go wrong dealing with him either but I always use Duran. Just thought you should know. PM me if you want to discuss. Dan

He has always been very fair with me and I would now count him as a friend.

Yup, Jack is high - ask me how I know! But it is a good solid shop in terms of work quality, timeliness and being thorough.

The car is question belonged to a mechanic that worked there and did the work himself. Yet the paperwork only shows this? Called them up they said they repalced 1 piston cause it was shot? hmmm thats not in the invoice? To me people would want to know what was replaced

It looks to me like they only billed the disposable stuff - gaskets, things that are to be used once. Concerning replacement parts - It was probably a servicable piston they reused sitting in a toolbox.

I think you got hosed, toss the car.

I have driven that car in question. SC targa, the guy that bought it should know exactly whats going on with it since he and Duran talked about it at length when he picked it up and drove it back. If you want the whole skinny on it why dont you call the shop tomorrow morning and talk to Duran himself. I dont know the whole history of the car myself but he does.
