If it doesn't work, rebuild it.

Do they do more than brushes?

I just went through this ... again.

Test it using threads / info here and Waynes book 101 projects. [Bentley if they have one for your car as well]. I took mine out and brought to local armature shop [brought two actually]. '76 SEV / Marchal had a bad stator [bought a rebuilt] and Valeo was good.

About $5 each to have bench tested.
