Where to buy Recaro seats?
Hello,
I want to buy some Recaro Pole Position seats, but I don't know which vendors are reputable. Anyone have a favorite, trusted vendor who sells Recaro? Thanks! |

coloradoporsche - great timing! I am actively looking for the same Recaro Pole Position seats. It appears that $599 for the velour seats is the price - just have to decide where to get them.
I just sent Speedware an e-mail with a question about brackets/sliders and price. I'm hoping to get seats in the car before our next event (end of June). I have not had any luck finding used ones.

Speedware is where I bought mine, and they're great to deal with. The only issue I have is with their mounting brackets - the holes are not spaced correctly to line up with the holes in the seats. A little work with a hole file is required.
Also you should know that you will receive no installation instructions whatsoever. The seats and brackets and sliders were intended to be sold to professionals who install for their customers, so there's no documentation provided. There's nothing tricky though, pretty straightforward. |

In the event you do not want sliders, there is a company called Wedge Engineering in CA that makes custom seat brackets. I just installed my MOMO to their bracket. They build it with a bracket for
the factory seatbelt as well. http://www.wedgeengineering.net/id2.html

Wow! $600 for brackets and related mounting hardware!?
I'm tempted to fab my own...I have a MIG welder and I'm not afraid to use it! I may need to lower my seat as my helmet currently hits the sunroof. So I hate to spend big bucks on hardware that I may replace. That said, however, I called Speedware and they said the Recaro sidemounts are adjustable for height. For a 1979SC like mine, Spedware said I wouldn't need the bracket unless I wanted to keep the OEM belts in for street use. I'm going to order the seats for now and try to mount my old sliders. I'll post pics if I get it to work...either that or I'll go crawling back to Speedware and order the necessary stuff. Thanks for all the advice!

I bought a PP from Speedware a couple months ago. I bought the other bits elsewhere. There's a recent post about the speedware sidemount brackets not fitting. I have a Brey Krause side mounts on one seat and it fits perfectly. Although it is not AL I tried the OMP AL side mounts on the other PP and don't care for the design. Recaro has AL side mounts but I don't know where to buy them...they are also spendy.
If you need a seat belt receptor bracket, Brey Krause also has those. I've never seen Speedwares version. I just bought a set of seat belt receptor brackets from Brey Krause. They are nice but spendy. All the bits add up. Recaro Sliders are $100/each. You can get Sparco or OMP sliders for $50/each seat. AL side mount brackets are $100+/each seat. The seat belt receptor brackets from Brey Krause were I think around $100 total.

Scooter you actually finally figure out how to mount your seats and have a seat belt?
On the SC cars all you need is a set of side mounts and the OEM sliders that are in your car. Seats, side mounts (Speedware's suck btw) and few minutes to put them in. |
