What is this???

The picture below shows some type of canister that has been installed in front of my oil cooler and by the horns in the front. Definitely not a factory install and I am sure it is blocking air flow to the oil cooler as well as messing up my horns. Any ideas what it is? Can I get to it through the headlight? The top left of the photo is where it is welded to my cooler. What idiot would do that???

Aftermarket alarm-siren??

Could be. I leave my alarm on valet because I hate the features of it. I will set off the alarm tonight and see if that is where the sound comes from. If so, it is toast.

Thats the...uh... gas canister for the... uh... old-world German car security system. You see, when a theif tries to steal one of these cars, the canister goes off and engulfs them in a poisonous cloud. Standard equipment on the old German cars.

Have a pro remove it for you.

No it's not.

It's an old, burned out flux capacitor. If it still worked, you could bet quite a bit for it on ebay.

looks like the old strainer from my shop sink - hey I need that back!

Spiraling downhill fast.

I think it is one of those deer warning gizmos. It spools up with air flow and emits a noise only animals can hear. OR it could very well be the flux capacitor.
