Well ... it doesn't look like the one in my '78 and I think SC dashes were the same for all years. The one in the picture looks like it's supposed to slide in and out, the one in my SC flips up and down.

The photos in this thread show an SC ashtray....next to an early car (a T?) that I cut up. They were the same and pivot like Jerry said. I don't know what the ebay auction is showing.

Hmm, I'm not getting any search results for his name. I can't search just for the first name 'Dan" either as the engine won't allow 3 chars or less! That always bugs me.

I had an ashtray from a 78 930 (sold on ebay) and it was identical (except for color) to the one on my 84 911 targa. It fit in my 84 dash perfectly.......
