911SC Total Interior Light's fuse #18, keep's on burning
Just noticed a lot of wires cutted in my 911, also the total Interior lights ,trunk and deck lid light's where alll disconected(Ground Brown wire) ..Fuse #18 supply current to this circuit and is my understanding that this supply power to the OXS Control Unit Senor Rellay. Some Jocker Mechanic cut the red/wht wire that comes from the WUR to the Fuel Pump rellay. I reconnect this particular wire and the OXS Control Rellay start Clicking again but the #18 fuse burned. and kept on burning. Ah! and the clock stop working.
Now,besides going trough inspecting the entire total interior wires. Is there a procedure that one can use to check the positive wires for grounding. Cordially Vic

why not wire the oxy sensor relay to some other 12V source? then it will at least run properly, and you can deal with the lights later.

Thank's for the reply. Sometimes the heat of the day will get to you(I mean miself) and one can't think straight. I'm including a pix of the red/white wire that energize the WUR and another red 1mm wire that runs together inside a black plantic tubing. Why will someone cut this wire? As you already know this wire comes from the fuel pump rellay together with the black 1.5 wire that supply power to the fuel pump. As you can see I reconnect the red/white wire. Now..,the red 1.00mm wire is the one that supply power to pin #30 in the OXS relay? Once I reconect this red/white wire the rellay began clicking and operational every time I start and run the engine. I suspect that I might be acivating the rellay via Pin #85 and pin#86 but not delivering power from pin #30 to #87 and #87b. You are suggesting that I run another new red wire between fuse #18 to pin # 30 at the OXS rellay? ![]() Other mistery is that I'm getting continuity from T12 pin#1 at both ends of the Frequency Valve plug. Why will that happen? Can it be posible that the two have grounded or came toguether? ![]() Thank's again JW Cordially Vic

Hi Again
It has been some time since the last time I work on my 911. As J.Walker sugested I put a new red cable from fuse 18 to the OXS rellay. I noticed that a black 0.5mm cable was screwed with the red cable at the fuse #18 , I disconnected this cable since this is the cable that supply the power to the clock and total intirior lights. I then start the engine and the fuse #18 burned again. Previously I found the 0.5mm red/white cable that runs from the Fuel Pump rellay #30(+) to T1d ,T10-14 to the WUR was cutted. ![]() You can see that I repaired and reconnect this cable. As soon as I reconnect this cable the OXS rellay began Cliking. Ok then I replaced the red cable OXS rellay to fuse #18 as discrived before ,fuse burn again. Then I check for graunded cables. I took my electrical Tester and put negative (black) to the car floor(ground), then the +(red cable) to the black/red cable to and from the FV and the black/red cable from 87b (OXS Rellay)and pin # 8 at the Acceleration Enrichment Control Unit, this cable gave a continuity buzz. As far as I know this means that this cables are grounded or not. Can someone tell me if my conclusions are right? As far as I know only the ground(Brown Cables) are supposed to give continnuity. This Photo shows the Red/white cable cutted ![]() Diagrams ![]() ![]() Can someone tell me if my conclusions are right? As far as I know only the ground(Brown Cable) are supposed to give continnuity when Grounded. Last edited by vizail; 05-04-2005 at 04:01 PM.. |

My very limited knowlege about electrics is that if you keep blowing the fuse you have a short between the fuse and the load source. It could even be a fault with the load source (WUR/OXS)
I dont think you can check this with a voltmeter.

I wonder if J. Walker or Jim can help in this . I know I have short but where?. I suspect that more than one component is shorted.
But then again wich wires are suposed to give continuity? The wires that are mentiones Black/red from OXS rellay to FV to OXS Control Unit and Black/red from OXS rellay 87b to Acceleration Enrichment Control gime me a Buzz when I put the voltimeter Test to a ground and the other test cable to this black/red cables . Are they shorted to te body? Cordially Vic

maybe one of the dome lights or the hood light is wired wrong. maybe the hot wire is on a ground terminal on one of them.

John Walker
As I said before ..In fuse #18 , I found the red cable(replaced with a new one) and a black cable 0.5mm screwed together w/the red cable . I disconect the black cable to isolate from fuse #18. this way I only have power on the red cable (that I replace with a new one) .By disconnecting this black cable from from the fuse I have no Int light's, no clock. but I have power going to the OXS rellay. In this PIX you can see that I left the black wire of the Circuit and fuse. ![]() I also performed the following Test. NO BATERRY - Accele. Cont. Unit Disconected- OXS rellay DISconected. I took my Volt Meter on in Continuity Buzz Mode with black terminal to Body and red to the different cables. I found the Following discrepancies: AECU -Disconected-no Baterry-OXS Cont Unit Disconected #6 green cables grounded to the body #8 Blk/red cable grounded to the body #4 Green/ red cable Grounded to the body OXS-rellay- Disconnected- no Baterry-OXS Cont Unit Disconected #87b Black/red grounded to the body #86 red/white grounded to the body FUEL PUMP RELLAY-disconnected -no Baterry Fuel Pump Relay- Disconected-No Bat. OXS Cont. Unit. Disc. #87 yellow 1mm grounded #87a 1.5mm red grounded THEN I DISCONECT THE T-12 POLE :Then I performed the test again and found no continuity on. 1-OXS Rellay Black/red wire 87b to 8 at AECU, and the other wire that goes to the FV. 2-AC Enrich.Cont. UnitI -Unit gave no Continuity in all terminals when I discinected this T12 Pole. 3- Only the reconected white/red wire from #86 OXS Rellay to WUR to Fuel Pump #30 gave a Signal with the T12 Disconected. What is happening? Is the T12 Pole Male connector Cables grounded somewhere in the engine Cable Harmes? ![]() ![]() Really Hope You Guys Can help..! Cordially Vic

Ok now..!
I performed the following test On this side of the Friquency Valve connector I found continuity at T12 male Engine Harness Conector PIN's 1 -2-3-4 and 10. Is this Ok ?Because Pin #1 is Black/Red and #2 is Brown(Grownd) I see this T12-2 twice in the diagrams black/red wire(not in Pin #2) and brown wire in Pin 2 at T12 I foun no continuity on the T12 Female conector ![]() ![]() At T-14 Connector Engine Harnnes--(Female) I found continuity from the same side of the Frequency Valve conector on T-14 (1-3-7-9-14) At T14 Connector (Male) (at-Regulator Pannel) I found Continuity From the same side of the Frequency Valve Conector at T14 Pins (1-3-4-5-6-9-10) I found no Continuity From this side of the Frequency Valve Conector ![]() So What can you Guys tell me about this diagnostic> Is this groundings of so many cables good or bad? Is this the reason of # 18 fuse burning? Here you can see that the other Bl/red wire is located at pin #4, Two Blue/white wires at Pin# 9 one green/red at Pin#10 and a gren/yellow at Pin #11

Gues what...
I left the T12 Connector unpluged and the car runs just fine a bit mixture and air adjustment . By elimination I think that some of the cables from the connector(Male T12) to the engine harnnes are Grounded. The #16 fuse will not burn. Do you Guys feel that the Harnnes Cables are Grounded somewhere in the Engine? Vic

Well I left the T12 Connector Unpluged
![]() The Car runs ok ...I bit rich THEN I REPAIR THIS MESS SOME BUTCHER MADE THIS REPAIR .HE PUT A VW RELLAY INSTEAD OF THE RED FUEL PUMP RELLAY. ![]() THEN I REPLACED AND REWIRE PROPERLLY IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR BEGINS IN THE ENGINE T12 HARNNES. I LEFT IT DISCONECTED AND FUSES DON'T BURN.. HOW MANY COMPONENTS GET POWE OR TRANSMIT SIGNALS IN THIS T12 ENGINE HARNNES? WILL REALLY APRECIATE ALL THE HELP Cordially Vic
