Weber vs Zenith
I recently purchased a mostly original 70 T Targa with a totally rebuilt engine. The rebuild included E cam, S pistons & cylinders, and Weber carbs. I have the orignal Zeniths. What are the advantages and disadvantages in performance and maintenance between the Webers and Zeniths? Should I rebuild and install the Zenths for originality or stay with the Webers?
Thank you in advance for your opinions,

My 71' 2.2l has Zeniths. After all I have been through with the rebuild, tunning, etc... Get Webbers. Parts are more common , cheaper, and upgradable.

356, keep the webers. They will only help the resale value. If you are concerned with originalty you should change the cams, pistons and cylinders back as well. If your not, leave as is and drive. Keep the Zeniths should anything happen to the Webers. I have had very few problems with my Z's over the 20 years of ownership. But if someone gave me a choice with no out of pocket $ give me the Webers. Like Austin552 said, Weber parts seem to be more plentifull. They are about the same to setup and maintain though.
Could you give us a report on how your engine drives?

Dan,
I've only had the car a week and I haven't driven a 911 since the mid 80"s when I had a 73.5 T. This car seems to run a lot stronger than I remember my 73.5 T. I'd guess that it runs much like an E, maybe a little quicker. I bought the car primarily for its originality. Yeh, I know the engine isn't original, nor is the paint on the hood and part of the left front fender, but everything else is. On the plus side regarding the engine is that it was totally rebuilt, including the Webers, only 2,000 miles ago. Rob 64 C Coupe 70 T Targa

If it runs good, then stay with the webers. I have a '70 T Targa also with a rebuild S pistons E cams and Zeniths. I would like to have webers and would not hesitate to put them on even though my car is mostly original as well.
