oil cooler seal
Just noticed my oil cooler seal is all but gone. I did a search and found that this is a necessary seal for proper cooling. My question is this; Do you have to pull the oil cooler to replace the seal and also is there an alternative to the $88.00 dollar seal such as foam rope or foam pipe insulation split and slid in.

I used foam pipe insulation. Works like a champ at 1% of the cost.

I did the foam pipe insulation, driven in rain many times and still holding up after about 5000 miles. Cheap and easy to replace.

Did you use any adhesive or just stuff it in around the cooler. Also do you remember what size you found worked best.

No adhesive. I think I used the stuff for 1/2 inch pipe. I seem to remember that the 3/4 inch stuff was too loose. I doubled it up in a couple of places where the gap was bigger.
