Engine Restorer (Has anyone used it?)
Well, I'm not sure about what was happening to my oil, but I have no leaks in my 1986 carrera, and it seemed to me that my oil consumption was high. I had no significant loss of power, and when the car was warmed up, No smoke.
During my last oil change, about 3 weeks ago, I added an (Engine Restorer & Lubricant) oil additive to try to help my high oil dissapearance. (I got it at my local Walmart). After about 200-300 miles with this product I have no smoke whatsoever, Not even the morning poof, when cold. Oil temperature seems to be controlling properly and I inmediately noticed an increase in oil pressure. (I think compression is up as well, but I don't have a benchmark number to measure now and compare) A lot of my engine noises have dissapeared, and I can surely say that my engine is running smother. Can anyone explain this, Or this thing really works. Any negative experience using this product? |
I can probably explain where the oil is going, out a worn exhaust valve guide which would not give the tell tale smoke signal.

Amazing, that the car would leak all that oil via the exhaust valves.
I read your post and saw your picture about your rebuild. I am just hoping that mine is not that critical right now. (I can't afford a rebuild). Right now, after adding that product, I maintain oil level in between the two marks and no leaks and no high consumption. Hopefully this product works and helps prevent portions of the valve guide leak. |
Hi PorscheG I would be interested to know if your experience is still positive regard the engine restorer?

I have used "Engine Restore" in my 911 since I bought it 6 years ago with 130,000 miles on it. I use it the 8 cylinder can. It is a product that I used in my race Camaro years ago. We did a test and saw improvements in the compression on the race motor. I was running a 250 HP Nitrous shot on a small block 400 Chevy. I don't believe in snake oils but this is one product I wholeheartedly recommend. Seafoam treatment is another product that I support and use regularly. Different application, of course, but you know what I mean.

I used the V8 can as well. I just changed my oil again and added another can. You can notice the diffence soon after you put it in. Seems like this product instead of an oil thickener has some kind of additive
(CSL) that helps seal the scratches in parts where real friction occurs (Cylinders). I am positive it will help emissions as well (If you need to pass a test). I don't see any harm using it, Just positives!!!! |
This is a very interesting thread !
