French importer Auguste Veuillet took this Gmund coupe outfitted with spats to the 1951 Le Mans and won class and 20th over all partnering driving with Edmonde Mouche. I'd call her a very pretty girl at that age.

Olny pics I have from th 1953 Carrera showed a couple of 550 RS coupes, a 356 without spats and a Hans Hermann 550 spyder. Von Neumann did race a Gmund coupe converted to spyder with spats in 1952 and '53 in Southern Californai so its possible. I can't imagine how the spats would have made it through the whole race but then I can't imagine how any of these cars made the wholerace under those conditions. Says a lot about how tough the cars and drivers were back then.

You got to be kidding me, if they are in good order they are quick and nimble. Have you ever driven a tractor?

That car is gorgeous!

I took a picture of this car as well. It is in the Porsche Museum at the factory.
A little metalflake and air brush, some hydraulics, big sub-woofers, and you would have a great low-rider.

Here are some that I took at RRII. I'm pretty sure that there is only one, they brought it from the factory museum. It's very cool!

Hmmm, for some reason I can't upload the photos. I'll try again later.

yeah I've driven a tractor ( ex-farmboy here ) I was refering to the primative nature of the 356 beast. Big ol' steering wheel, that VW feel tranny..Not exactly a refined vehicle, nor is a tractor. Both get the job done and are fun to drive.

Yeah, I'm here... Actually I was all geared up to rent a car and head down to Z-town and hit the Museum again... Even had another guy lined up to share the cost with, then a C-5 fragged out the rwy here and we had to wait for them to clean it up and get him outta the way so we could get in... By that time it was too late to get a car and get going.... Doesn't look like the Saturday plan is going to come together for me either.... Sorry Smitty if you read this thread.... I'll try to give a call later...

I like this thread by the way Eric !!!! Very cool !!! I'm really interested in this one!!!

Wtf? I have tried to post the five pictures that I have of this car, but keep getting the message that I didn't enter a file name or attempted to load an empty file. It's a photo CD that I've loaded pictures to this site from in the past, I don't get it.

Eric, pm me your email and I'll send you the pictures.
